福島第１原発の事故について「千年に１度の津波に耐えているのは素晴らしいこと。
原子力行政はもっと胸を張るべきだ」
米倉会長は事故は徐々に収束の方向に向かっているとし
「原子力行政が曲がり角に来ているとは思っていない」と発言。

The Daiichi complex had a total of 1760 metric tons of fresh and used nuclear fuel on site last year.
Three Mile Island in 1979 was about 30 tons;
the Chernobyl reactors had about 180 tons when the accident occurred in 1986.
